shadow play

  When I was going in a twilight room. I saw a lot of swirling, relentless, endless cycle shadows were projected on a piece of wall. The simple light sources transformed a moving collection of toys into many shadows which emerge and disappear, increase and diminish, come together and fall apart.

  This is the work named “shadow play” in Hamburger Bahnhof Museum. It is created by a Germany artist Han-Peter Feldman, he make a comfortable and slight perception to lead me to go into a secret his garden, the rolling pieces on the table like a music box (I think everybody have one at the childhood)to play a silent sound by light and shadow. It represents a general, conceptual meaning – lapse and retrieve of childhood fantasy and memory.  

  The work “shadow play” remind me the other work “rise and fall” by Fiona Tan in Venice Biennale. Although they are different piece and feeling, I was attracted by the moment of divergence images overlapping and interweaving. For me, the context of them is similar to remind an uncertain, mutable, incongruence feeling (youth hood/childhood). No matter the shadow emerges and disappears, the edge of the falls emerges and the water tumbles off into a void. They are both describe the memory connect one another in the minds.

  His work involves a continual reliving experience in dreaming and hallucinations. And I am interested in the repetition of memory, our memory repeat to us what we haven’t yet come to terms with, what still haunts us. And I try to cross through between the table and wall, I see a large shadow of me is appear, overlap with another one and disappear. I dun no what it is connote, but it is a good exploration to me.

In a film named Days of being wild, it has the classic one-minute dialogue with a friend inspired me to make this work, I would imagine two met only a thin time of 0.1 seconds, and constantly playing at the same time, even if they are just 0.1 seconds different, the difference is only in the period time, the dislocation will be amplified to an incredible degree. The most interested me in the image, the love of the moment , shadows flicker, the images have changed from the clear to chaotic until the last black screen, they are described the delicate, refined, mysterious and other things, just like a dream.

  I use a ice in black to put it on the papers and melt it by the time.

 

 

this is the second work for the precess.It use the wet paper in the first work and put them on the window,and take a video until the papers all flow down.

Victory over the future

 

 

 

My favorite piece of work is Russia museum wrapped victory over the future. the artist called Pavel Pepperstein who wrap in a dark room hung a few dozen of his watercolor works, the dim light shine on every screen . Wrapped in passionate playing, jumping music in the room, and shouting “Russia is become powerful ”, like a group of people shouted one after another political slogan.
When I walked into the room, I was feeling the threshold into the future, each one painting on display Pavel’s fantasy, the future utopian landscape, full of ideals and hopeful in his works with  simple and direct compositions, intuitive use of color, There is also a symbolic character of a human triangle, square, round, they are all attracted me. His work reminds me the director named Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: a space odyssey, black rock, with mystery, science fiction color, relatively speaking the Pavel’s works has a few more details and lively, giving other people a relaxed feeling to tell the grand destiny of humanity and human problems.
I do not intend to write any political and other complex issues, but I like his works, such as dream-like wild notion, there are endless, boundless steppe and wasteland, with human graves, huge blue magic crystal ball road on the it. I have a great memory about some of his work, the big white cap is one of his work I like, “the building of the government of the earth” sentence reminds me of a child watching Superman cartoons and defend the Earth clan, and how I totally do not understand why the children will love these things may be a perfect individual heroism and the desire of the perfect world! also known as “the big will of reincarnation”, in two small colorful wheels push to make, the destiny of the roulette operation, it is a little bit same of yin and yang opposites in China, just like supermarkets, lottery wheel plate, walk in between heaven and earth to all phenomenon there is no number lottery distribution volume. It make numerous possibility web to connect everyone. “civilization of vapours” (monument of geography), to tell of human civilization, such as the smoke of countless ideas evaporate away in a few thousand years later, there is no conceptual in country, race, all the things will be destruct and rebuild.

Derive

  I get a lot of time to get understanding what is the meaning of Derive. In the article, Derive was searched in Vikipedia as a wander, attempt to experience and find out a new significant meaning when I explore the urban landscape. It seen to tell me to cast off the original idea what I get used to, method to ignore the habit and familiar form.

  Actually, I get a few questiosn about Derive when I read it. For me,it is a interesting experience, it is totally different inspiration for walking between a urban city and countryside. I guess the different way is a city as a space to experience various informations to surround a rapid changeable of apparent space, no matter it is practical or intermingled. This is a way to approach issue of the psychorogical aspects of the bulit environment. In Pont Aven, I feel a comfortable and slience wandering when I have a walk in it.Everything is clear (sound, view), I can get a easy way to feel a spirit inside me to collect with the outer landscape.

  Another aspect of Derive which I am interested in the meaning of “get lost”. How can be a guy “get lost” in the country? I have a such experience wne I place in the part of unfamiliar environment. I had a forces to enhance my alertness. I would have a reaction with that place. I would consider is its safe? The place is who belong to? Is it the personal place? Has any dangerous? Maybe it is a unmarked path, a abandoned houruse, a anicent chruch. I have a certainly concept to appeal or repel character of certain place at the moment.

  Finally, at the day of walking, I wanted to depart from Pont Aven, and I walked through around four hours, but finally I come back from a other entrance unconsciously. It seen to say a curricular narrative of walking, a curricular of the day.
